1.5 We offer a family discount when there are two or more people from ONE family attending lessons. The family discount will be given to the student with the lowest level of your family. Not valid with any other offer.
- If a check is returned by the bank, the parents of the student, or the adult student will be charged the related bank fee.
- If lessons are terminated by parents in any reasons before the end of the month, payment will not be reimbursed.
- If payment is not received within 30 days of the first lesson of the month, the regularly scheduled lesson times will be forfeited and assigned to the next student on the waiting list.
Practice:
- We recommend at least 30 minutes or equivalent lesson time of yours at home practice five days a week. The more you review the faster you learn. (Builds technique, puts it in the unconscious part of the brain so you can use the conscious part of the brain on the new material.)
*Some things to remember:
- Quality is more important than minutes on a timer.
- Set goals for each practice time.
- Keep it positive. Don’t always make practicing a trade for playtime or time with friends. Try to schedule in a morning practice or a time when your child can get it done and still be able to have free time. Encourage ‘play time’ at the piano apart from daily practices Ask anytime if you need practice ideas, incentives, time suggestions etc.
General Rules:
- If siblings wish to attend lessons, they must sit quietly without distracting the students during their lessons. Parents are taking a full responsibility for controlling their behavior while students proceeding their lessons. Otherwise, please remain in the waiting area.
- Parents can sit behind the student as to not distract the performer/instructor during a lesson. We understand that it is hard not to interject when you want to correct your child during a lesson, but please try and hold your tongue or else the student’s attention is instantly divided as soon as you speak. Sit quietly and take notes, unless a question is specifically directed toward you or you are asked to help out. Write down your questions to ask at the end of the lesson, while your child is packing up.
- No criticismof playing, asking what piece someone is working on or saying one performer is better or worse than another. This goes for all students, parents, siblings, guests and spouses attending group, lessons and performances. Always feel free to congratulate something you see a performer (or parent) doing well in our studio. Every single student in our studio has strengths beyond the level they are playing.
- We will do our best to respect your schedule by starting and ending lessons on time. For the safety of our students and the peace of mind of our teachers, we ask that all students be dropped off/picked up on time. If students arrive late, we are happy to teach the remaining lesson, but the lessons will end at the scheduled time.
- 1 One month’s notice must be given prior to termination of lessons. No allowance will be made for lessons missed by students (except by special arrangement in cases of prolonged serious illness). Cancelled lessons cannot be refunded, credited or rescheduled.
10.2 In the event of a teacher’s absence, adjustment will be made.
10.3 Time lost because of a student’s lateness cannot be made up.
10.4 For students to enjoy their music lessons and progress to the best of their abilities, they will benefit by regular attendance of their lesson.
Exams:
- Exams are not mandatory, but are great for serious students wanting to fine tune their skills, work towards a goal or gain high school credits for their achievements. More information is available at rcmusic.ca. Please discuss exam options with your teacher early in the year to see if exams are an option for you / your child for this year or a goal to set for the future.
